"PAIN"

I wish that i could say i am a perfect man
i wish sometimes that i would not be who i am
one day i decided i would think on this,
not knowing if faith and pain could co-exist:

could i ever on my own conceive
of someone i did not know, but i need?
i must be made to be at peace and communion
'cause there must be some place somehow from where I have fallen

Chorus
i find through every ounce of pain i feel
that my mind cannot deny that God is real

the inconsistency of what i say i should be
compared to what i am in actuality
leaves me in conclusion that i know the way
though i am unable to always obey

nothing in this world has satisfied
my soul's hunger for a deeper life
the weight of my misdeeds were crushing, blinding me
i still live with pain inside but now i see

- Chorus -

the pieces of my life are scattered on the floor
i stared at them till i could take no more

i do not deserve to be set free
forgiveness is what i desperately need
if it wasn't for the perfect blood was shed
would i not be dead inside but i live now instead

- Chorus (2x) -

i know my faith's still here
believe through all my tears

So the question this song ponders is can faith and pain co-exist? Well, yes they can and they must! Surely Jesus showed this to be true.

Hebrews 5:7
During the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. 8 Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered 9 and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him

Jesus was made PERFECT through his pain felt in this world. This is really the purpose of pain. We are living in the world of duality. We feel pleasure and pain. We may think pain is bad, but it is only a way of saying that something is wrong. When we touch a hot stove, we feel the pain of the burn. Hence, a lesson has been learned. Spiritually, we learn and are perfected through our pain.

So it is quite natural that the process of surrendering to God is going to bring pain to the soul. How long did Jesus have to "learn obedience" before he finally gave himself totally to God? Jesus wasn't born knowing he was the Christ. He learned this and became Christ through the trials and tribulations of his life. If Jesus suffered, then any who follow him should expect the same.

Philippians 1:27
Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel 28 without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved—and that by God. 29 For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for him, 30 since you are going through the same struggle you saw I had, and now hear that I still have.

Truth seekers are always going to find resistance. This "resistance" from the world can manifest itself as pain in both physical and mental ways. Many have felt physical pain through torture because they proclaimed the Truth- the world resisted. Other times when the world rejects the Truth, a painful blow is dealt to the soul. Understand that the true followers of Christ are not necessarily "Christians" but are those who follow the path of Truth that God lays before us. What many are coming to see is that Christianity is a religion, but Christ is the only reality that can save us. You know you are living in this higher reality when fear no longer directs your actions. Instead, those in Christ are led by the love of God. This love rids the soul of the fears of this world. In truth, there is nothing to fear when you are filled with love.

Jesus' soul was in anguish because he had to leave his friends. He was certainly not afraid to die. He died because he loved humanity and knew he had to start the "movement" of Truth. If he had remained a man of flesh, he could have only continued to teach his physical followers. But by obeying God to the point of death, he became a life-giving spirit that can reach and save the entire world simultaneously! Jesus' life and existence is in Christ. And Christ is in you and all! Jesus spoke the Truth and died for Love. We are called to do the same.

1 Pet 2:19
For it is commendable if a man bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because he is conscious of God.

Someone has to turn the cheek to karma. Jesus said to love those who hate you. This puts an end to that karma. We have the power to cancel out the evil of this world by using the highest power- Love. Being higher in consciousness the children of God know how to love, but they shouldn't expect the world to love them back. Those of higher consciousness will suffer for the sake of the world like Jesus did. What the natural minds of the world construe as being "different" they will often fear. What they often fear, they tend to hate. What they hate, they often try to destroy. But what they don't understand is that the spirit cannot be destroyed. And in Christ, there is no duality, so we will feel no pain.
