JOB 16:19
Even now my witness is in heaven; my advocate is on high. 20 My intercessor is my friend as my eyes
pour out tears to God;
21 on behalf of a man he pleads with God as
a man pleads for his friend.
Do you remember who is your friend that pleads with God on your behalf? This subtle song from the 60s was full of spiritual truth that many never knew. The Moody Blues were a "spiritual" band to be sure. They didn't sing about Jesus and God per say, but they sang about the reality and truth they represent. Jesus is our friend now and forever because he is Christ, the Son of God. Christ Jesus was and is aware of God. He is God conscious- I AM. But understand that this level of peace is also to be ours.
Genesis 15:1
After this, the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision:
"Do not be afraid, Abram. I AM your shield, your very great
reward."
Every true prophet of God comes to realize that God is with us and within us. God protects us and, in the end, becomes our reward. We inherit God's nature and life. While this may sound a bit "New Age" to some Christians, they apparently cannot grasp this fundamental spiritual truth. Moses went higher (in consciousness) than most other men and what did he find?
Exodus 3:14
God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to
say to the Israelites: 'I AM has sent me to you.'"
How does God know "what's on your mind"? It is because God is with us. God is "walking on this earth finding you." He walks with you- stride for stride waiting for you to remember who He is and who you are. Where does I AM live? God lives in His temples, which is us. Again, God wants to fill us with His holy being. This should not come as a shock for any who have read Paul's teachings. He said we are to be co-heirs with Christ and become the fullness of God. God wants to be US in this world. In this way we truly become the Body of Christ. We may begin as God's servant, but we soon become His friend and eventually God's Son.
John 15:12
My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, that
he lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I
command. 15 I no longer call you servants, because a
servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have
called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father
I have made known to you.
We can be where Jesus is by following him. In other words, we must let Christ (the I AM within us) become our life, our Lord and our salvation. Only by following Christ within us we can take away "the world's disguise" and "make it hide." Jesus overcame Hades and death, which is what we face in this world. Yes, Jesus is with us always because he is Christ. To be where he is, we too must surrender to God, be found by God and be led by God. Once we are found, we can help our Father find the others who are lost. This is our calling! This is the way of the Kingdom!
