"Prepare Ye the Way"
by Caedmon's Call
(click above link to listen)

The Word of the Lord came one evening
Concerning His bride's great sin
He'd send down His Word to renew her
To prepare for the Bridegroom again
The Word said repent
From seeking vain glories
While the gifts in the Lord's name you give
Repent of all the first stones cast to kill
While your own self-righteousness lives

--Chorus--
Prepare ye the way for the Lord
Prepare ye the way for the kingdom
Prepare ye the way
Prepare ye the way for the Lord

The Word said repent and turn from your strivings
Repent and turn from your hatred
Repent from the doctrines of men that divide
And tear like the wedding gown ripped

Walk in His love like newborn children
Walk in His love, let the wedding gown mend
Walk in His love, with humility come with pure hearts
And cast all your cares to the wind

The Word of the Lord came one evening
Concerning His bride's sin
He assured me we will be forgiven
And then let the marriage begin

Revelation 19:7
Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.

This Caedmon’s Call song always lifts my soul in praise and hope. I can’t help singing at the top of my lungs because this is the message God is telling me- God’s Kingdom is coming! Of course John the Baptist was the man with the message to repent because the Kingdom was at hand.

John 3:27
To this John replied, "A man can receive only what is given him from heaven.
28 You yourselves can testify that I said, `I am not the Christ but am sent ahead of him.' 29 The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom's voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete. 30 He must become greater; I must become less.

John knew his place. He knew that Jesus was the Christ and that Christ must increase as we decrease. It is the Spirit of Christ in us that brings the Kingdom of God to earth. There is no other way. The Kingdom doesn’t come by following religious rules or even obeying the Ten Commandments. The Kingdom comes by following and obeying the Spirit of Christ! This is freedom from the Law. This is freedom from those “doctrines of men that divide.” Christ is the Bridegroom and humanity is the bride. This holy union will bring about a level of peace and prosperity on this earth that some would say is impossible. God WILL bring heaven to earth through Christ! Then Christ will bring His Kingdom upon earth through YOU and ALL! Jesus did not pray in vain. Jesus saw the future and prayed that it would come quickly.

Luke 11:2
He said to them, "When you pray, say: " `Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come.

So trust Jesus and take the advice of this song. Prepare ye the way for the Lord, who is your Bridegroom! Do this by walking in His love and obeying His will. Then on that day, you will know that He is in you and you are in Him and we are one.

May God’s Kingdom spread from our hearts into all the world,

brad
