"Breathe On
Me"
by Jennifer Knapp
(click
above link to listen)
no temptation seize a man
that he can't overcome
who am i to be fallen?
crack Your back on a slab of wood
come freedom, nail it down
i come crawling,
i come crawling
CHORUS:
come trickle down and save the world
two hands that i can't see
come breathe, come breathe,
come breathe on me
split-rib water, blood and bone
come now, come Calvary
come breathe, come breathe on me
Testimony come now, quickly, whisper in my ear:
celebration
Peace at last not far away, empty sheet, a borrowed grave:
Salvation
come freedom, come
come freedom, come
CHORUS
come freedom, come
come freedom, come
CHORUS
Jennifer Knapp. Surely you have heard of her? If not then listen now. She is very talented young lady who is bound to produce a lifetime of great music. She already has a good start! She is a country gal, and sometimes you can hear that in her music. Even so, she has so many different sounds- from an edgy rock groove to a classical opera solo. She has the voice to do it all, and the heart and mind to write some truly inspired music for God.
Interestingly though, in this particular song she never uses the word "God," but the message should be clear. It is about salvation. It is about freedom from sin and this world. It is about the path that Jesus walked to show us the way. She begins with a truism that we should all take to heart. There is no temptation that we can't overcome. That is of course if we are seeking and following the will of God in our lives. Yes, we are all walking a path, but is it the one we have chosen or the one God has chosen? If we stay on His path, we can do no wrong. Jesus trusted God to the end and walked the path that led to Calvary.
I particularly like it when Jennifer emotionally sings, "come trickle down and save the world, two hand that i can't see..." Yes, dear God, save the world! This is what many hearts are yearning for. This is what many today would surrender their very lives for. This desire is God's desire. Jesus had such a desire because he had (and has) the heart of God. Jesus surrendered his life in this world to help us reach the next. Jesus is a spirit now. His body was transformed. His soul was made immortal. His spirit lives in all and will lead those ready to walk the path of salvation.
Yes, salvation is freedom. Whether some know it or not, they are trapped in hell. This world is Hades, the place of the dead. Certainly we need to be resurrected, but not the flesh. The body will transform into a higher form, but only after our spirit and soul have been set free from hell through Christ. The purpose of the Son of God is to save all who are trapped in hell. Jesus overcame! Jesus the Christ was resurrected out of hell, so that we too could follow him back to God! Jesus began the great resurrection of the entire body of Christ. He was first, the head, but the WHOLE body will be lifted out of death. All will be made alive by the spirit of Christ! Yes, let my Calvary come! Yes Lord, breathe on me! Yes, come freedom come!
Sing Gloria!
