"Aerials"
by System of a Down
(click

Life is a
waterfall,
We're one in the river,
And one again after the fall.
Swimming through the void
We hear the word,
We lost ourselves,
But we find it all?
Cause we are the ones that want to play,
Always want to go,
But you never want to stay,
And we are the ones that want to chose,
Always want to play,
But you never want to lose.
Aerials, in the sky,
When you lose small mind,
You free your life.
Life is a waterfall,
We drink from the river,
Then we turn around and put up our walls.
Swimming through the void
We hear the word,
We lost ourselves,
But we find it all?
Cause we are the ones that want to play,
Always want to go,
But you never want to stay,
And we are the ones that want to chose,
Always want to play,
But you never want to lose.
Aerials, in the sky,
When you lose small mind,
You free your life.
Aerials, so up high,
When you free your eyes,
Eternal prize.
Aerials, in the sky,
When you lose small mind,
You free your life.
Aerials, so up high,
When you free your eyes,
Eternal prize.
Luke 9:23
Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he
must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. 24 For
whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses
his life for me will save it.
Yes, we must lose our life. This essential teaching of Jesus rings true in this latest Song of the Week...
Okay, this one is sure to shock some of you...but hey, that is what I am here to do from time to time! This secular rock band has some pretty vulgar lyrics on many of their songs, and yet, they put out a jewel with this song. I don't know about you but I seek truth anywhere and everywhere. So when I was surfing the FM dial in my car one day and heard this song, I had to take serious notice. I had to find out who sang THAT song!
As it turned out, the band's name is System of a Down. They are a very loud rock band that seems to sing mostly about political messages, but it should be obvious from this powerful song that they have a spiritual side to them as well. In fact, this song is MUCH deeper in a spiritual sense than many of the "Christian" songs I hear- go figure.
It begins with the fact that we are all in all- we are one....we are like water in a river flowing and then going over the edge and coming back together again. The next line is what really hooked me-- "Swimming through the void, we hear the WORD..." In my writings I have written that we (spirit) entered the void because we are following the Word of God through creation. We are like fish swimming in a sea of consciousness through the void to find our true selves. We come into this world of darkness wanting to "play" but not wanting to lose (our life). Yes, we are the ones who wanted to CHOOSE. We made the choice to know this world instead of God...the natural over the spiritual. And yet, this is all as it is suppose to be. We are spirit going through a cyclical life of consciousness. We entered the void and creation to lose ourselves and then find ourselves again. This divine transformation takes place within our minds. We are growing in consciousness/awareness of God.
Romans 12:1
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer
your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this
is your spiritual act of worship. 2 Do not conform any longer
to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing
of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what
God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Seeking God means letting go of what holds us down. Doing God's will means flying above the world and doing "AERIALS"! To do this we must lose the carnal mind and USE our spiritual mind that our Father has given us! Yes, as the song says-- we have come here to lose our "small mind" and find our true life, which is Christ- the BIG Mind! The Divine Mind! Yes, this is how we free our life from the chains of hell! Christ is our life and eternal prize! This song has is right my dear. This song says it loud and clear!
Rock on my brothers and sisters!
